This post is an attempt to sort out a check list of ideas related to using Google Accounts. The format is Question and Answer - and it is designed so that readers can figure out what they do and don't know - or realise!
(1) How hard is it to work between several Google accounts? (eg my own and sevenplusfg@gmail.com?)
Answer - really easy! (Provided you have access to each account). Here is the top line of the 7+ account when it is open in Gmail. We are looking only at the icons on the extreme right for points 1 to three
(1a) See how it works for me .. The icon for the 7+ gmail address is the flourishing symbol at the top right of the diagram above (does this line have a name?). When I click on it I get information about what other gmail accounts I can go to. If I click on one of them then it opens up that gmail next door to this one. Easy!
elaine to add photo when it comes through
YOu can see that I have access to my own h.elaine email and also one for Virtual (which I spelled wrongly when I was setting it up - this is the one we use for ordering fruit and vege
See the set of three accounts that I am currently using - and their different backgrounds and icons - etc. And you can see where to go to "Add another account" - if this does not work, then please ask a question!
(1b) - If you do not have access to the 7+ account then please talk with Elaine - I believe we are able to give access once, properly, so that your device is registered with this account - and thereafter you will have ongoing access. But the first time is a fiddle which requires a phone call so I can approve you. I cannot guarantee this - but it worked for Karen, Kevin and me. If it does not work then we will try something else. Niki, Russ - I am keen to check this out sometime.
(1c) - Managing your google account - while we are looking at this drop down menu, lets check in on managing your account. You will see heaps of options there - look down the left side bar - I suspect the answers to questions about getting and giving access to various places (like blogger) might sit there - but I have not visited these seriously since beginning this project.
As I said above - this writing is a check list - did you know all the above - if not - have fun exploring your potential for developing new capabilities.
(2) What applications are automatically built into my google account?
Again - great question and very easy to answer - see the list by clicking on the square of 9 little dots on the left of the identity icon for any of your gmail accounts. That's the list!
The ones I use most are :
- account
- gmail
- photos (these come across from my cell phone)
- contacts (these sync with cell phone)
- calendar (ditto)
- blogger
- drive
- chrome (but only for linking with TV through chromecast)
- maps (but I usually only use this in the car)
- And I rarely use docs or sheets - but sometimes in the cell phone if I am away from the computer.
And here is the bonus: you can swap between all of these things in exactly the same way as described in point 1 above.
Help please - check all the above out, and help me in correcting it and making it more simple.
Question (3) will be about settings
Question (4) will be about finding stuff out. - like how to use your google account.
You are welcome to join in the writing of this - provided you have access - and most of you don't, YET.
