First Impressions

Five people met on 17 February 2024 and agreed to form First Impressions - this is the kind of thing we talked about ..

First Impressions is a space within Networking for Well-being where you (or we) deliberately seek out ongoing meaningful conversations - which we can share with others who have similar concerns and interests.

Most of those present are busy during the week - earning money.  This is something that those in Seven Plus do only spasmodically - so that average age of "First Impressions" is somewhat younger than for Seven Plus - but our broad interests are similar.  We will clarify this over time.

We agreed that brunch on a Saturday once a month or so would work for us.  We agreed that we would meet again on 23 March at the same time and place.

All of us had some understanding of Networking for Well-being before coming along - it felt as though we basically agreed on most ideas.

For example, we talked about cults, and how easy it is to be sucked into agreeing with people who share similar beliefs - and are we, therefore, in danger of being a cult?  An example of a possible future discussion came from Susie Fergusson's programme on National Radio this morning: Michaeleen Doucleff: why kids need less 'parenting' https://www.rnz.co.nz/national/programmes/saturday/audio/2018926467/michaeleen-doucleff-why-kids-need-less-parenting

We also agreed that we could invite others along to future sessions - the criteria for getting involved in anything to do with N4W are to do with being interested in ideas and actions that strengthen our communities and respect and celebrate differences among people.  And each network looks after itself, within these broad guidelines.  And this  blog is a meeting place for noting ideas we wish to share within networks or across the whole of the N4W movement.
