Hi there - this is Elaine's report on a first meeting - five of us got together for Brunch at Tūranga this morning - and we created "First Impressions"!
First Impressions is a space within Networking for Well-being where you (or we) deliberately seek out ongoing meaningful conversations - which we can share with others who have similar concerns and interests.
Most of those present are busy during the week - earning money - something that those in Seven Plus do only spasmodically.
We agreed that brunch on a Saturday once a month or so would work for us. We agreed that we would meet again on 23 March at the same time and place.
All of us had some understanding of Networking for Well-being before coming along - it felt as though we basically agreed on most ideas.
For example, we talked about cults, and how easy it is
to be sucked into agreeing with people who share similar beliefs - and
are we, therefore, in danger of being a cult? An example of a possible
future discussion came from Susie Fergusson's programme on National
Radio this morning: Michaeleen Doucleff: why kids need less 'parenting' https://www.rnz.co.nz/
We also agreed that we could invite others along to future sessions - the criteria for getting involved in anything to do with N4W are to do with being interested in ideas and actions that strengthen our communities and respect and celebrate differences among people. And each network looks after itself, within these broad guidelines. And this blog is a meeting place for noting ideas we wish to share within networks or across the whole of the N4W movement.
TECHNICAL STUFF
Ignore this unless you are interested in helping me tidy up this blog - it is not urgent.
Question -
(1) are the people who attended today happy with the above - I can adjust it easily - but it would be good if we commented on what has been written (add an idea or two, or start a discussion) rather than get too complicated. And if you feel like opening up a discussion around the Suzie Ferguson interview - please make it a fresh post - so others can join in the conversation. (I reckon that could work really well - but we will see - good things take time.)
(2) about commenting on posts - please check out whether this works for you. This is a technical question because I do not know enough to guide newcomers!
I have signed in personally from my personal g-mail account - so I can comment from there whereas I am writing this from within the gmail account that owns this blog (that is sevenplusfg@gmail.com).
Kerryn - yours is a gmail account - I suspect that it is simple for you?? That is if you already use blogs??
Louise, Steph - I presume it is also possible from yours?
Please phone or email me about this sometime if you have the time - or comment here - whatever is fine. And there is no hurry - I am gradually upskilling
I have sent you and invitation to be able to write blog posts - I suspect (you will be able to register yourself with this blog so we know
